Why Watch It Now?

Fans suffering from football withdrawal might want to take a self-reflective look at this dark comedy from Robert Siegel. When we talk about the negative side of pro sports, we don't really consider the fans' perspectives. Besides sporting Patton Oswalt's best performance, this underrated sports classic about an obsessive New York Giants fan (Oswalt) whose encounter with a star player (Jonathan Hamm) turns violent offers a thoughtful commentary on what it means to really support a team.
